9/30 @ 5:30p Hangout & Acoustic Set: Chanpan

Come for an exciting evening of acoustic jams, your favorite Asian snacks, and discussion with NYC band Chanpan! Together with ASIAN, Inc. and Save Cantonese, Chanpan is stopping in SF as part of their Election Year US Tour to host a FREE open-door mixer. In addition to an acoustic set, Grace Dumdaw, Lance Tran, and Matthew Tran will have a community audience discussion drawing from their backgrounds in TV & movie acting, national politics, community organizing, and Asian American advocacy.

About Chanpan:
Chanpan is an Asian American band featuring Grace Dumdaw and identical twins Lance and Matthew Tran. Since their start busking the streets of Chinatown, they’ve already been praised by Vogue as a “very cool New York band”, covered in New York Times’ T Magazine, and featured by Live Nation’s Ones to Watch. The trio’s individual accolades in politics, community organizing, and film & television have been featured by The New Yorker, HBO, Billboard, CNN, and more. Their music combines dance pop, jazzy soul, and energetic vibes, earning them 540k+ streams on Spotify with singles like "Jungle" and "ooweeooweeoo."

Chanpan is embarking on their first national US tour on their “Election Year” campaign, critiquing the American political landscape through the single while stopping to promote grassroots community-building in each city. They will be playing the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on October 1 with Japanese artist Haru Nemuri.
