This is an illustration of Christina's grandparents' home in Sunnyside, Queens, reimagined as the snacks she grew up with. Outside is the garden where her Ngin Ngin (paternal grandmother in Toisan) grows the vegetables they eat throughout the Summer and Fall months. It's always exciting when a vegetable is ready to pick off the vine knowing it was grown with love.
The Bao Bae was created by Christina, a 4th-generation Cantonese/Toisanese American from Queens, NYC. She created The Bao Bae to encourage others to celebrate and appreciate their cultural heritage.
